Ardwell
Ardwell simply means 'herb field' and like many other local villages, was built around a large estate - in this case that of Ardwell House. Ardwell has its own beach in Chapel Rossan Bay - a pebbly and sandy beach well worth exploring with parking, picnic tables and toilets. The church in Ardwell was built in 1900 with a pretty interior and stained glass window. Nearby to the church stand the ruins of Killaser Castle. Ardwell was once the home of the 'leek fair' - a plant sale that was eventually stopped due to unruly behaviour at the fair.

- Ardwell House & Gardens - a walled garden, hawthorn avenues and woodland walks grace this beautiful Rhins garden. The garden surrounds Ardwell House (dating back to 1720) and there are fantastic views across Luce Bay to the Machars.
- Ardwell Pond Walk - Signposted from the car park in Ardwell, this walk takes you past a loch, fish ladder and ponds whilst you skirt round Arwell House.

- New England Bay - a long sandy beach, with shallow rock pools and shingle, easily accessible and well worth a visit.
- Ardwell Bay - on the opposite side of the Rhins is this hidden gem of a bay - sandy with rock pools. There is also a walk to Doon Broch - an early fort built between 100 BC and 200 AD.
